    Ideal for small brochure sites, cost effective hosting offering you space on a shared server.

    Pros:

    • Inexpensive route to market
    • Cheaper set up costs
    • Cheaper monthly fees
    • Shorter contracts

    Cons:

    • Shared resources with other users of the server (CPU, RAM etc)
    • Less flexible
    • Generally not PCI DSS compliant
    Dedicated Server


    For large complex and data intensive sites (e.g. Magento Commerce) Your very own server. Fully optimised, based on your site requirements.

    Pros:

    • Faster load times
    • Larger resources (CPU, RAM, Disk space etc) Not shared with any other sites
    • More flexible - has the ability to be upgraded and controlled easily
    • Allows for PCI DSS compliance

    Cons:

    • More expensive to set up
    • Longer contract terms
    Virtual Server


    Ideal for all types of sites from small brochure sites to large ecommerce sites, A VPS is a dedicated server that is separated in to “virtual” computers.

    Pros:

    • Fast to set up
    • Easily and quickly scale resources (CPU, RAM, HDD etc). E.g. if a promotion goes viral there is the ability to almost instantly increase the servers resources to cope with demand
    • Reliability - as the server is "virtualised" across many different physical servers, if one of those server has a problem the other servers will pick up that demand resulting in no disruption to your site
    • Allows for PCI DSS compliance

    Cons:

    • Very similar setup and monthly costs to dedicated server
